What happens if my gift card expires?

Last Update 10 months ago

Once a gift card expires, it becomes invalid and can no longer be redeemed. Any remaining balance is forfeited and cannot usually be refunded, transferred, or reissued.

In most cases, merchants cannot extend or reactivate expired gift cards due to system and policy restrictions. However, in some regions, consumer protection laws may prevent gift cards from expiring—or may require retailers to honor them even after the printed expiry date.

💡 Tip: Always check your card’s expiry date as soon as you receive it, and set a reminder to use the balance before it lapses to avoid losing funds.
